Forbidden love is something seen and known all over the world. But what can lead to two young lovers being forbidden from being with each other; and what are some consequences and life lessons as a result of forbidden love?In the tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet" Romeo and Juliet cannot be with each other yet they still find a way to make it work. They are willing to risk getting caught by their families just to see each other for a little while.Forbidden love is both similar and different from today's generation of teens and Romeo and Juliet's time because of a lack of tolerance and the consequences they must face. Also, the texts shows an important message about forbidden love that can be connected to today's teenagers .
One reason why a relationship in today's time is forbidden in because of intolerance. Teenagers today can be forbidden from seeing each other because of a lack of respect for certain groups of people such as homosexuals. Today, love is sometimes looked down upon for being between two men or two women. People don't think homosexuality is okay and they just don't accept it.This intolerance for homosexuals is not shown in the book Romeo and Juliet but it is commonly seen today. For example, in the Christian religion it is believed that love should be between a man and woman. Homosexuality is not necessarily accepted in the Christian religion. This is an example of how love can be forbidden amongst today's teenagers.
There are many consequences of forbidden love in both Romeo and Juliet's time and in today's time. For example, in Act 2 the prologue of Romeo and Juliet the text states "Being held a foe he may not have access." This quote means that because he is seen as an enemy to the Capulets he cannot be with Juliet as often as he would like.Although he wants to see Juliet more often he is aware that there is a risk of getting caught. He is also aware that he is willing to take that risk for a few moments with her. This is an example of a serious consequence of forbidden love that Romeo and Juliet must face as well as teenagers today.
The text, "Romeo and Juliet" shows an important message about forbidden love that applies to today's teenagers and Romeo and Juliet. If love is strong enough, then its worth it to take a risk and you'll find a way to make it work. For example, in Act 2 the prologue of Romeo and Juliet their is a line that says "But passion lends them power, time means, to meet.Tempering extremities with extreme sweet".This quote from the text shows that passion is what drives their relationship and it allows them to find a way to see each other, even at the risk of getting caught.
Overall, forbidden love is both similar and different from today's age and Romeo and Juliet's time. Not everything is accepted in life whether the reasoning is good or bad. Forbidden love is tough because there is always a risk. But, if a love is strong enough its worth breaking the rules to be with the one you love.Forbidden love is not the idea of just being banned form seeing your love but it is more importantly the sacrifices you are willing to make to be together. In conclusion, forbidden love has many similarities and differenes because of tolerance, consequences, and messages learned in Romeo and Juliet's time and in today's generation of young teenagers.
